Pop Art comes to R. Alexander this winter! The group show highlights the accomplishments of artists Federico Lopez, Martin Burguillo, and Alejos Lorenzo in embracing popular culture in fine art. The show will be on display at R. Alexander from January 31st through March 6th.
The paintings of Spain's Martin Burguillo are influenced by the expansive world of advertising and provide a modern interpretation of Pop Art. Burguillo creates a series of work with a very visual language in which the main protagonists are simple objects of consumption- department store bags (which we see every day without paying much attention), cups, books, bottles and other objects that are part of our daily lives.
Lopez offers a distinct interpretation of Pop Art portraiture. Utilizing a bright color palette and bold brushstrokes, he skillfully conveys the dimensionality and tonality of his subject. The variant of bright colors adds depth and dimension toh is work. Lopez's deep understanding of color therapy literally illuminates in the black light, as the works morph from bright pastels to bold primary colors and display an exceptional depth.
