Amy Dixon’s work has evolved over the past 35 years with true authenticity in developing her own voice on canvas. Her curious awareness is ever present and fueled by direct observation, constantly recording and journaling ideas, extensive travel and endless energy. Dixon’s paintings are alive with color, form, mood and light. Her perspective is a mosaic of moments committed to memory that resurface with paint. She believes that the essence of imagery holds more emotional significance than a literal representation of an image. Rich pigments and layers of paint saturate the canvas with naivety while the optics of color interact & synthesize with a maturity that resonates to the viewer on both a universal level and with individual sophistication.

Color is the driving force that moves me but conversations, music, soul, dreams, travel, time in nature and impulsive thoughts also play an integral part in the dialogue explored on surfaces. Amy Dixon received her Bachelor of Arts in 1981 from Newcomb College of Tulane University, New Orleans. Following graduation, Dixon studied for a year in Florence, Italy with Jules Maidoff at Studio Arts Center International. Other post graduate studies include multiple workshops with Wolf Kahn and Kim English.
Dixon has maintained professional gallery representation throughout the US for 35+ years and her works are part of numerous private and corporate collections.

Colorado has been home to Dixon, 3 children (now grown) and wonderfully spoiled dogs since 1996.
