Background

Residing in Nashville, Tennessee, Edward is an artist who has honed his skills through self-guided exploration. His artistic realm revolves around the creation of floral paintings, characterized by vibrant hues and captivating textures. While Edward has been actively engaged in painting for over 27 years, it was only in 2022 that he began dedicating himself not only to painting but to selling his artwork too. Presently, his distinctive creations have found their way into esteemed private collections throughout the country. Along with commission pieces, his paintings are exhibited in juried art shows and some of the top galleries nationwide.

Why does he create?

Engaging in the creation of art is one of Edward's greatest pleasures, and he believes this sentiment is vividly portrayed in his paintings. Over the course of his lifetime, he has dedicated many thousands of hours to the craft, and with each passing day, his passion for it intensifies.

What does he paint and why?

Edward specializes in floral pieces, driven by his desire to bring the vibrant colors and organic forms found in nature into indoor spaces.

He draws some of his inspiration from visits to botanical gardens across North America such as Butchart Gardens in Victoria, BC, and Cheekwood in his hometown of Nashville.  There is a particular pleasure he derives when his artwork finds a home and instantly infuses it with life and radiance.

Flowers hold a special place in Edward's work, evoking happiness both in him and others. One of the greatest satisfactions from his art comes from witnessing the joy his paintings bring to viewers. 

What medium does he use and why?

Edward opts to use heavy-body acrylics as his chosen medium for crafting impasto paintings. He revels in the ability of this medium to create a textured surface, allowing the flowers to seemingly leap off the canvas. It adds depth and dimension, enhancing the overall visual experience.

What technique does Edward use?

With a careful touch, he employs an assortment of tools including palette knives, spoons, and other instruments to harmonize energetic acrylic hues with graceful shapes. This artistic alchemy culminates in a captivating floral display, imbued with a distinct essence that sets it apart from any other.
